Discover the Enchanting Salina: Hidden Treasures among Vineyards and Bays of the Tyrrhenian Sea

Immersed in the cobalt blue waves of the Tyrrhenian Sea, we discover the exciting beauty of Salina, an island rich in natural treasures and thousand-year-old traditions. Its pebble beaches and hidden coves offer peaceful havens, while the picturesque streets of the old town lead through a labyrinth of traditional architecture and lush gardens.

The true beating heart of Salina is found in its terraced vineyards and centuries-old olive groves, where a centuries-old winemaking tradition is cultivated. The grapes, kissed by the sun and refreshed by the sea breeze, are transformed into fine wines that bring with them the authentic soul of the island.

Every sip of Salina wine is a journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the island, a sensorial experience that tells stories of passion and dedication to the land. From fresh and aromatic whites to full-bodied and complex reds, each bottle holds the secrets of this generous land, offering connoisseurs an unforgettable experience.

The grapes grown in Salina faithfully reflect the unique character of the area, characterized by a temperate Mediterranean climate and volcanic soils rich in minerals. The typical grape varieties of Salina mainly include Malvasia delle Lipari, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio.

Imagine sitting at the Portobello restaurant, on the terrace overlooking the sea overlooking Lipari, surrounded by a magical atmosphere while the sunset colors the sky with shades of orange and pink. The waiter presents you with a selection of wines from the Colosi company, a renowned producer on the island.

The first wine you taste is the dry white from the Colosi company, a fresh and vibrant wine that captures the very essence of Salina. With its bouquet of citrus fruits and white flowers, it envelops the palate with a pleasant acidity and a note of minerality, creating an unforgettable tasting experience.

To accompany this dry white, the chef at the Portobello restaurant prepared a typical Sicilian dish for us: a marinara risotto, enriched with fresh mussels, shrimp and cherry tomatoes freshly picked from the restaurant's garden. The freshness and liveliness of the wine marry perfectly with the richness of the marine flavors of the risotto, creating a marriage of taste that transports you directly to the Mediterranean coasts of Sicily.

We then dive into a spectacular Nerello Mascalese, a full-bodied and structured red, which transports you to the terraced vineyards of the island with its aromas of berries, spices and a light mineral note. Its complexity and depth captivate you, leaving you craving another sip.

We finished the dinner with a Malvasia passita delle Lipari, a sweet and aromatic white that captures the very essence of Salina. With its intense aroma of orange blossom and ripe fruit, it envelops the palate with a velvety softness and a fresh and persistent finish. Obviously paired with a ricotta dessert produced on the island.

Together, these three wines represent the best of the wine production of Salina and the Colosi company, offering you a unique and unforgettable experience that envelops you in an embrace of Sicilian authenticity and tradition.
