Description
“ Sperone ” is the result of the vinification of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano grapes grown in the Aprilia area. Merlot in the Lazio region has a long history, which has its roots around the 1950s, with the migration of many families from the North who saw an excellent possibility in the cultivation of the lands of the Pontine countryside, until that moment difficult because they have not yet undergone reclamation work. The grapes that produce this wine grow on volcanic soils, with good exposure to the sea winds and the right exposure to the sun.
Sperone was the first wine produced in 2012; it is a blend of merlot (60%), cabernet sauvignon (30%) and Montepulciano (10%) which expresses the great varietal expression of the grapes while leaving great space for the territory. On the nose, notes of small red fruits, toasting and tobacco anticipate a drink characterized by flavor, great concentrations and a tannin that is felt without being invasive.
AT THE TABLE
This wine is presented in the kitchen with the desire to accompany all-round mountain dinners, but preferring starters based on cured meats and soft cheeses and first courses of traditional Roman cuisine. Thanks to its tannin, Sperone also pairs best with game dishes.
