Description
Emblematic wine of Castello Nipozzano, the historic Frescobaldi estate a few km north-east of Florence, Nipozzano Riserva is the symbol of the Tuscan winemaking tradition and of the indissoluble bond with the terroir.
Varieties: Sangiovese and complementary varieties
Alcohol Content: 13,5%
Vinification and maturation: The grapes, as soon as they were harvested, were immediately sent to the cellar. Here, once destemmed, the spontaneous fermentation process took place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. At the end of this, the wine remained in the vats to conclude the maceration. Following racking, malolactic fermentation took place, again carried out in steel. At the end of the year the wine was decanted into barriques, where it matured for the following months. The further period in the bottle allowed Nipozzano to express itself to the maximum, making it a wine with exceptional expressive balance.
Organoleptic notes: Nipozzano has a lively ruby red colour. On the nose it is characterized by fruity scents such as berries, black cherry and elegant floral notes; the freshness expressed through balsamic hints is wonderful. This is then followed by toasted and spicy notes of pepper, nutmeg and coffee. The palate is rich, characterized by the elegant density of the fruit and the final mineral freshness which make it balanced and persistent. The tannic texture is dense but not scratchy. The taste-olfactory correspondence is splendid.
