Description

RIBECA is much more than just a wine. It is the result of decades of research, study and commitment on the part of Firriato in recovering and enhancing the Perricone grape variety, a variety once neglected but now rediscovered and celebrated as an authentic enological gem of Sicily.

Through a scientific approach and unparalleled dedication, Firriato has selected the best Perricone plants and created a unique clone, carefully cultivated in the optimal soil and climate conditions of Pianoro Cuddìa. The result is a wine that not only tells a story, but embodies the very mission of the company: to preserve and enhance the rich Sicilian ampelographic heritage.

The dark and deep ruby color of RIBECA anticipates an extraordinary sensorial experience. On the nose, its complex bouquet offers a wide range of aromas that invite discovery: from delicate notes of blackberry and plum to more decisive nuances of licorice, ginger, strong>cloves and juniper berries.

This aromatic richness is the authentic reflection of Sicily, a land rich in history, culture and traditions. In the mouth, RIBECA reveals itself with fresh and enveloping tannins which enhance the elegance and sumptuousness of the wine. The energetic and ambitious fruit, in perfect balance with delicate acidity, gives this wine an inimitable charm and a unique personality.

A high mountain viticulture immersed in the sun. Such a particular mix of conditions that makes Etna viticulture a natural laboratory at the service of excellence. On a total of 84 hectares spread across the slopes of the northern quadrant of the volcano, with vineyards exposed on large terraces but also on the sides of ancient lava flows, Firriato has developed a recovery and valorization project unique in the entire Etna territory. A pre-phylloxera vineyard, an ancient farmhouse with two seventeenth-century millstones, and vineyards that climb the slopes to variable heights, from 650 to over 950 meters above sea level. The soils, on the order of Andisoli with a silicon concentration of more than 60%, are exceptionally porous, and the basaltic rocks of the soil substrate guarantee, with the so-called sponge effect, a constant supply of water to the plants.
