Description
Costa Toscana IGT
"The Tuscan archipelago is an earthly paradise of which Gorgona is the wildest and most luminous pearl of Aphrodite. Behind its apparent surliness, the unspeakable seduction of scents and silences, and a nature that moves for its strength, for its eternal puberty.... And around, water and salt, reflecting the messages of the sky, tightening the ties to the sails." (A.Bocelli - 2014)
The Gorgona project was born in August 2012 thanks to the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only prison island in Europe. Here, inmates spend the last period of their sentence, working in contact with nature to develop skills that facilitate reintegration into the working and social reality. Around a small vineyard, in the heart of an amphitheater overlooking the sea, the project begins with the goal of allowing inmates to have a concrete and active experience in viticulture, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi agronomists and oenologists. Gorgona Rosso came to life with the 2015 harvest, from some rows of Sangiovese and Vermentino Nero, cultivated organically and then aged in terracotta jars. The label of Gorgona Rosso is dedicated to hope and the desire for rehabilitation: with the hope that the important viticulture experiences acquired by the inmates can help them write a new page upon returning to society.
Organoleptic notes: Gorgona Rosso makes us fall in love again, with its wonderful lively and elegant personality. Its charisma captures the senses and hits the mark, fascinating like never before; the color dazzles, bright and vivid.
The fruity note is distinctive with hints reminiscent of ripe red fruits like the strawberry tree when sweet, the Mediterranean scrub like myrtle, juniper, and finally rosemary.
On the palate, notes of softness and freshness emerge, with peaks never excessive but always perfectly integrated. The tannin is present but velvety.
