Description

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Pasetti is a pure red wine, produced by the renowned Pasetti winery, which represents the classic of the production area of Pescosansonesco, within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The vineyards are located at 550 m above sea level. in an area characterized by clay-limestone soils, rich in organic substance, exposed to the north-east. The dry and windy climate of the summer favors a late ripening of the native Abruzzo variety, Montepulciano, which prefers these clayey soils.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Pasetti has an intense ruby red color, with hints of black cherry, currant and blackberry, accompanied by nuances of liquorice, cinnamon and black pepper.

In the mouth, it is a soft wine, but with elegant and ripe tannins, excellent structure and persistence, which make it a product of great personality and quality. The vinification takes place through maceration and fermentation in steel for 8-10 days, with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature of 20-22°C, while the refinement of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Pasetti lasts 6 months in steel, 12 months in oak barrels 20hl and 60hl and subsequent 12 months in bottle.

It is advisable to store it at 16-18°C and consume it preferably within 8 years of harvest. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Pasetti goes perfectly with traditional Abruzzo cuisine, such as roast meat, game and mature cheeses. It is ideal for special occasions, such as important lunches and dinners with friends and family.

Pescosansonesco
The territory of Pescosansonesco is an agricultural-pastoral centre, belonging to the high hill area and to the rugged internal mountain range, counting among its highest peaks Mount Picca (1405 m), Mount Alto (1208 m), Mount Pietra Corniale (1155 m), the Queglia (995 m), Colle Soda (802 m), Colle La Macchia (1086 m) and boasts some interesting mountain caves. From a geological point of view, the Pescosansonesco area belongs to that transition band parallel to the calcareous relief of the main orographic line of the Apennines which already emerged in the lower Miocene, formed in a lagoon environment by sedimentation of deposits deriving from waters rich in calcium sulphates or selenium, and flaking of the clays in contact, resulting in the long Miopliocene formation in a conglomerate breccia which then came to the surface due to the violent orogenetic thrusts and the concomitant marine regression.
