Description
The tribute to the land of Montalcino and its winemaking tradition.
Of the 88 hectares of vineyards owned by Tenuta Luce, 11 are registered in the Brunello di Montalcino register.
Here is born the Sangiovese for Luce Brunello, the tribute to this excellent wine born in Montalcino in the second half of the nineteenth century. It was the first in Italy to obtain, in 1980, the recognition of the Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin and today it is one of the most representative among the excellent wines made in Italy.
Luce Brunello di Montalcino thus continues a path of the highest quality inspired by the uniqueness of the territory of origin and the great wines born here.
The Vintage was characterized by a mild and relatively dry winter, which favored early bud break. The sudden drop in temperatures at the end of April, which affected several areas of Tuscany, caused no problems to our vineyards thanks to their high-altitude location. Subsequently, the period between May and August was marked by very little rain and intense heat, which limited the vegetative growth of the plants and reduced the size of the grape clusters. The early September rains gave some relief to the plants in their final stage of grape ripening, allowing an early harvest of about 10 days, healthy with small clusters very concentrated in polyphenols and tannins due to the skin/juice ratio favoring the skin.
TASTING NOTES
Very bright compact ruby. On the nose it shows concentration with notes of red fruits, mainly marasca cherry, ripe blood orange, and spices. On the palate it is rich and enveloping, with a beautiful tension that highlights the perfectly integrated tannic structure. The finish fascinates, for its great sapidity and long persistence. A wine of extraordinary integrity, with great aging potential.
