Description
The homage to the land of Montalcino and its winemaking tradition.
Of the 88 hectares of vineyards owned by Tenuta Luce, 11 are registered in the Brunello di Montalcino register.
Sangiovese was born here for Luce Brunello, the tribute to this sublime wine born in Montalcino in the second half of the nineteenth century. He was the first in Italy to win, in 1980, the recognition of the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin and today it is one of the most representative of the excellent wines made in Italy.
Luce Brunello di Montalcino thus continues a path of the highest quality inspired by the uniqueness of the territory of origin and the great wines that are born here.
The 2017 vintage was characterized by a mild and relatively dry winter, which favored early bud break. The sudden drop in temperatures at the end of April, which affected various areas of Tuscany, did not generate any problems for our vineyards, thanks to their positioning on high ground. Subsequently, the period between May and August was characterized by very little rain and intense heat, which limited the vegetative development of the plants and reduced the size of the bunches. The rains at the beginning of September gave some relief to the plants in their last stage of ripening of the grapes, allowing an early harvest of about 10 days, healthy with small bunches very concentrated in polyphenols and tannins due to the fact of having the skin ratio /juice in favor of the peel.
TASTING NOTES
Very bright compact ruby. The nose is concentrated with notes of red fruits, mainly morello cherry, ripe blood orange and spices. On the palate it is rich and enveloping, with a beautiful tension that allows the perfectly integrated tannic texture to be enhanced. The finish is fascinating, with its great flavor and long persistence. A wine of extraordinary integrity, with great aging potential.
