Description

The grapes for Cinque Autoctoni are grown in the municipalities of Colonnella, Ortona, Sava and San Marzano. The Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes come from the Abruzzo hills located 300 meters above sea level. While the remaining varieties, including Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera, are grown in southern Puglia. For this reason the wine is classified as Table Wine. A wine with an intense, intense and powerful color which is, according to its creator, Valentino Sciotti, 'a true taste of Southern Italy'.

Very deep garnet red. Particularly intense and persistent with notes of cherry and blackcurrant, aromatic herbs, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa, liquorice and hints of mineral. Good structure and good balance between alcohol and freshness, velvety tannins and persistent aftertaste. Great to drink straight away or can be left to age for a long time.

The EDIZIONE CINQUE AUTOCTONI project was born way back in 1996, when Farnese Vini began to write the first pages of its history.

The idea of the wine was born during a curious meeting between experts in the sector: Valentino Sciotti, today managing director of the "Farnese Group", Filippo Baccalaro, chief winemaker of the same group and third generation of Piedmontese winemakers, Hugh Johnson, the most famous journalist of wine in the world, and Jean Marc Sauboua of the third generation of Bordeaux winemakers. In that particular meeting, 18 years ago, Hugh Johnson launched a challenge to the two young winemakers: to create a great wine that carried the character of "Southern Italy", forged with the best vines of that territory; a wine with the modest name of "table wine", but with the soul of "a great wine", one of those that stand out for their ability to be unique and extraordinarily superior to what the market offers.

Grape variety: Montepulciano, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Sangiovese, and Malvasia Rossa

Production Area: Municipalities of Colonnella, Ortona, Sava and Manduria

Vinification: soft crushing, destemming, maceration, fermentation for 25 days, malolactic fermentation in barrique and aging for 13 months.

Wine Idea: demonstrate that a great wine can be produced, an expression of the enormous heritage of native vines of our country, with the best taste characteristics and olfactory sensations of the vines used. Its particularity is given by the great harmony and elegance, which a great wine rarely manages to express at these levels.

Sensory Characteristics: the glass is colored with a dark but luminous ruby, intense and persistent aromas, with fruity notes of blackberry and cherry, enriched with notes of aromatic herbs, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa, liquorice and an intriguing mineral touch. Relevant structure, well balanced between an important and harmonious alcoholic note and adequate freshness, the tannin is soft and the persistence is very tenacious. Ready to drink immediately, but can also withstand long aging.

Food pairings: excellent with rich first courses, red meats and medium and long-aged cheeses.

Serving temperature: 18°C
