Also this year, the Women of Wine Association celebrates International Women’s Day with a detailed calendar from February 28 to March 14, as usual, spread throughout Italy.
The eighth edition centers on the theme “Women, Wine, Culture,” combining tastings, art, solidarity, and roundtables to highlight the female contribution to the wine world. Numerous events are organized in wineries, museums, wine shops, and restaurants, emphasizing social commitment. ArsWine.it is pleased to share the calendar of initiatives.
Opening events: Tuscany and Piedmont (February 28)
Tuscany – In Florence, Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, the Tuscan Women of Wine led by Donatella Cinelli Colombini deliver a donation to the Donne Insieme Valdelsa Association, the result of the ETICO project by Amorim Cork Italia: 410 kg of recycled corks (about 70,000 stoppers) transformed into solidarity against violence towards women.
Piedmont – At the Circolo dei Lettori in Turin (Via Bogino 9), Ivana Brignolo Miroglio organizes a roundtable and tasting (18:00–22:00), opening the discussion on women and wine.
March 1–9: Piedmont and Marche
Piedmont – Raffaella Bologna (Braida, Rocchetta Tanaro, Asti) opens the historic winery from March 1 to 9 (except Sunday 3, 9:00–17:00): guided tours (€30, tasting of 4 wines) focusing on the permanent sculpture exhibition by Alessandro Lupano “The Song of Stone.”
Marche – Saturday, March 2, at Casa Vinicola Garofoli (Castelfidardo, AN) the free exhibition by artist Dario Balzan opens (9:30–19:30, until April 20).
Piedmont – March 2–4 at the Wine Salon OGR (Turin), roundtable and tasting (varied times, paid entry).
March 2: Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia
Puglia – Cantine Soloperto (Manduria): open day (9:00–21:00, free), with evening event (18:00) “Women, Wine, Culture”: native wine tastings, Giusi Leone exhibition against violence, book presentations and AIDO calendar for pediatric oncohematology.
Sicily – Salemi Castle (TP): open tastings from 10:30.
Sardinia – Museo del Vino Regional Wine Shop (Berchidda, SS): roundtable (16:00) with producers, archaeologists, and designers, followed by tasting (€10).
Puglia – Officine Clandestine (Bari): talk “Beyond the Norms” (10:30–12:30) with producers Marianna Cardone, Antonia Volpone, Marzia Varvaglione; interviews by Anna Puricella (Repubblica), sommelier Agnese Di Noia, Alessandra Signorile (Pink Bari). Aperitif/lunch with paired wines.
Calabria – AIS Calabria Headquarters (Cosenza): “Women and Wine Network” (16:30, free) with Daniela Mastroberardino, Vincenza Alessio Librandi, presentation of Korale charity.
March 6: Veneto, Friuli VG, Campania, Puglia
Veneto – Cantina Italiana (Noventa Padovana, PD): aperitif/dinner with photographer Donatella Tormene and Podere Vite in Rosa wines (charity, 5% to La Esse cooperative). 20 seats, paid event.
Friuli VG – Vie d’Alt (Prepotto, UD): presentation “Sisters” by Barbara Pascoli (18:30), tasting of Vie d’Alt and Spolert with sommelier Rosa Prisciandaro..
Campania – Villa Di Donato (Naples): tastings (19:00) and show “Background Noise” (21:00) for the Una Nessuna Centomila Foundation.
