Marzo, il mese delle Donne del Vino

March, the month of Women in Wine

Every March, the National Association Le Donne del Vino organizes the National Days, a program of events involving wineries, wine shops, restaurants, schools, museums, and symbolic places across all regions. It’s not just a celebration but a true widespread workshop: tastings, winery visits, conferences, creative workshops, and solidarity initiatives designed and led by producers, restaurateurs, sommeliers, journalists, and wine professionals.

The 2025 theme “Women, Wine, Innovation” connects all initiatives, highlighting technology, creativity, new forms of communication and education, without forgetting the deep roots in local territories and traditions.

ArsWine.it is pleased to guide you through the many events organized for this year! A great opportunity to discover Italy’s natural and artistic beauties – along with delicious wines!

The Women of Wine Days (March 1–15, 2025) – nationwide calendar

Events take place throughout Italy, bringing together glasses, culture, and innovation, focusing on the female role in wine and society. Meetings, tastings, and roundtables tell how women are changing the way wine is produced, communicated, and experienced.

Sicily: conference “Women, Wine, and Innovation” – March 1, 2025

On March 1 in Catania, at Isola Catania & Atelier Museo di Marella Ferrara, the Sicily delegation opens the Days with a conference on the role of women in wine, now interacting with technology and research. Experts, researchers, and professionals speak to explore how female skills are driving change and innovation in the sector.

Sardinia: land, art, and identity – March 1 and 6, 2025

Also on March 1 in Jerzu (Pelau Mannu, Nuoro), the Sardinia delegation kicks off an event dedicated to local wine and culture. On March 6, at Tenute Olbios in Olbia, the presentation of the book “Carrasecare design” by Mara Damiani becomes a journey through contemporary art, Sardinian Carnival, and winery tasting, featuring an exhibition of works and a guided tour while sipping a glass.

Emilia Romagna: solidarity dinner “Romagna meets Piedmont” – March 7, 2025

On March 7 at Podere dell’Angelo (Rimini), a tasting dinner takes place where Romagna cuisine meets Piedmont wines, with part of the proceeds donated to the “Break the Silence” Association of Rimini. A concrete example of how wine and hospitality can support social projects related to women.

Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Apulia, Tuscany – March 8

On March 8, the program intensifies:

· Lazio – Visit and tasting at the Eredi dei Papi winery of Chiara Iacopini, in Monte Compatri (Rome), with a company tour, glasses, and light lunch.

· Lombardy – At Enoteca Longo in Legnano, Paola Longo leads a day on the theme “The Role of Women as Drivers of Change,” with discussion sessions in the morning and afternoon.

· Piedmont – At Tenuta Fontecuore (San Giorgio Canavese), a roundtable “Faces of Women Who Innovated the Wine World” features long-standing members of the association sharing their experiences of innovation in winemaking, hospitality, communication, and legal professions.

· Puglia – At Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo (Guagnano, LE), the workshop “Of Flowers and Paper Lab” combines art and wine: designer Sonia Zanchetta sketches participants’ profiles, which they complete with marks, colors, and words, alongside winery visits and a vegetarian brunch with sparkling wine.

·  Sardinia – In Settimo San Pietro (Arca del Tempo Museum), the festival “Women in Culture at Cuccuru Nuraxi” tells the story of the shift from matrilineal tradition to today’s leading figures in archaeology, anthropology, music, and food and wine culture.

·  Tuscany – Two events: a tasting “The DOCG Wines of Tuscany by Women” at the Leopolda Station in Florence, within “Excellence of Tuscany,” led by AIS sommeliers, and a distillery visit at Nannoni Grappe (Civitella Paganico) with an art exhibition by Laura Serafini, a tour, and an aperitif.

Events on March 13: innovation, spices, and solidarity

On March 13, the theme “Women, Wine, Innovation” unfolds across Campania, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Sardinia.

· Campania – At the Lapis Museum in Naples, there is a toast “Wine and Innovation”: an underground journey through history, wine culture, and solidarity to support women victims of violence.

· Friuli Venezia Giulia – At the Al Ponte Restaurant in Gradisca d’Isonzo, the regional delegation hosts the “Spiced Evening with the Women of Wine”: a spice-themed dinner in collaboration with Bauer 1884, featuring a detailed menu paired with wines from members, supporting the SOS Rosa association.

· Sardinia – At IPSAR “E. Lussu” in Alghero, the roundtable “Women, Wine, and Innovation” takes place: producers, oenologists, representatives of wine museums and the agricultural world share with students the value of education and professionalism to tell the story of territories through wine.

March 14: wine aromas and female communication

On March 14, the Women of Wine Day continues with a focus on senses and languages.

· Piedmont – At the La Scamuzza farm (Vignale Monferrato), there is an art and olfactory tasting workshop to learn how to recognize wine aromas, combining creativity and sensory analysis.

· Puglia – At MAITo, the Archaeological Industrial Museum of Terra d’Otranto (Maglie), guided tours and talks with “extraordinary women” who communicate in different fields: wine, art, digital culture, focusing on innovative methods and tools to turn online dialogue into live relationships. Followed by an aperitif with rosé wines from the Women of Wine of Puglia.

Why this calendar is important

For ArsWine.it, telling this calendar means giving space to a vital part of contemporary wine: where women are no longer “guests” but protagonists of innovation, territory, and drinking culture.

The Women of Wine Days offer three valuable perspectives:

· highlight female producers, wine shop owners, sommeliers, and communicators who are innovating wine styles, formats, and languages;

· connect the glass to themes like art, design, solidarity, education, and gender equality, making every bottle part of a larger story;

· invite you to look for labels signed by women or linked to these groups, even in digital wine shops, to turn your purchase into a meaningful choice.
